Day-by-Day Programme

Arrival in Hurghada. Transfer to Port Ghalib. Board M/Y My Red Sea Explorer, meet the crew, and attend the safety briefing.

We leave Port Ghalib in the morning. The first dive is a check dive on a coastal reef near Marsa Alam: adjusting gear, checking buoyancy, getting used to the water. Then 1–2 dives at Elphinstone — a long reef with sheer walls, strong currents, and shark encounters. 2–3 dives in total. In the evening the yacht heads into open sea — an overnight crossing to Daedalus Reef.

Daedalus Reef — a massive reef formation 180 km south of the Brother Islands, in the middle of the open sea. Sheer walls on all sides, a plateau on the south from 28 to 40 m. Reef sharks and hammerhead sharks, schools of surgeonfish, groupers, and trevallies.

The first dive is at dawn, when hammerheads come up onto the plateau. Then the reef walls and the plateau. 3–4 dives, including a night dive. We stay overnight at the reef.

Second day at Daedalus. In the morning we return to the southern plateau for the hammerheads, then work the reef walls on the other side — soft corals, fields of anemones, schools of trevallies and groupers. Manta encounters are possible in the blue. 3 dives.

In the evening we weigh anchor — an overnight crossing to the far south, to Rocky Island.

Rocky Island — a small rocky island in the far south of the Egyptian Red Sea. Walls drop into the deep, and the current brings in pelagics: sharks, big trevallies, tuna. The slopes are covered with soft corals and gorgonians. 3–4 dives, including a night dive.

We stay overnight in the lee of the island — Zabargad is a short hop from here.

Morning at Zabargad — a large island with a mountain in the middle and a lagoon. Dives on the island slopes, at a sunken wreck, and in the coral gardens of the lagoon. Calm water, plenty of macro and reef life. 2 dives.

After lunch we move to Sha'ab Sataya (Dolphin Reef) — in the south of Fury Shoals. A large lagoon with a massive reef. Vibrant corals and huge pods of dolphins. A dive and snorkeling with the dolphins, and a night dive in the lagoon in the evening. Overnight the yacht heads north toward the coast.

The last 2 morning dives are at the coastal reef Abu Dabab: a sandy bay with seagrass, green turtles, rays, and a possible dugong encounter. A calm, shallow site — a good finish to the route.

Then we return to Port Ghalib. Rinsing and drying gear, filling in logbooks, and a farewell dinner on board.

Transfer from Port Ghalib to Hurghada. Return flight home.
