Fonimagoodhoo is an island in Baa Atoll, which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in its entirety. The resort occupies the whole island: 105 villas, on the beach and on stilts over the lagoon along the northern shore. Until 2025 the island traded as Reethi Beach Resort; it is now run by Minor Hotels under the NH Collection brand, and after a full rebuild the villas and restaurants look nothing like the older photographs.

The reason to come to Baa is Hanifaru Bay, twenty minutes away. From May to October plankton blooms draw in the mantas: the resort describes up to two hundred animals at once, circling in a feeding cyclone with wingspans of three to four metres. Whale sharks turn up too. Access to the bay is tightly capped — five boats and eighty snorkellers at a time, always with a guide and at a safe distance. Diving in Hanifaru is banned; snorkelling only.

The house reef starts metres from the beach and, according to the resort, shelters some 250 species of coral and over 1,200 marine species: butterflyfish, angelfish, triggerfish, rays, nudibranchs, octopuses and morays. Blacktip and whitetip reef sharks patrol the lagoon, and green and hawksbill turtles feed there.

Diving and water sports are run by Aquafanatics, the island’s own PADI centre. Nitrox comes at no extra charge, and courses run from Bubble Maker for eight-year-olds through to Divemaster, with night dives and specialties. Dives are priced in packages — the more you do, the cheaper each one gets.

The island has eight restaurants and bars: the buffet Jumla, the beach grill Alifaan, the over-water Asian Kaiyo, the beach lounge Madumaithiri, the sunset bar Atardecer, the rum bar Handhuvaru, the poolside Splash and fine-dining Caravela. Separately there is Adrift — private dining set up in secluded spots around the island.

The rest: an infinity pool facing the ocean with a DJ at sunset, a children’s pool, the REVIVE spa with four treatment rooms using ELEMIS products, a gym, tennis, badminton, pickleball, table tennis and the Maxies kids’ club for ages four to twelve.

No markup

You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.

We run the deal

Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.

Card payment

We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.

Support all the way

We help you choose the room and dates, work out the dive package, answer questions about flights and gear, and stay in touch until you are home.

The exact amount is confirmed when we hold your booking: it includes the resort's rate at the day's exchange rate plus the actual transfer costs. No hidden fees.
