Filitheyo is an island in Faafu Atoll, 118 kilometres from Malé airport. It covers twenty-one hectares: dense greenery, sandy paths under the palms and white beach all the way round. The resort takes up the whole island — 118 villas, 102 of them on the beach and 16 on stilts over the lagoon.

What sets the place apart is that it is the only resort in the entire atoll. The dive sites around it are not shared between a dozen hotels, and on most of them you will see no boats other than the resort’s own dhonis.

The house reef runs along the shore and has seven entry points. The sheltered sections suit first dives and buoyancy practice, the outer edge makes for gentle drifts. Unguided house reef diving runs from 06:00 to 20:00, with a guide on request. Night dives are scheduled regularly.

Diving is run by Filitheyo Dive Center — the team of Werner Lau, the German dive centre network, working to PADI standards. Nitrox at 32 % comes at no extra charge for certified divers, and both DIN and INT connections are provided.

Around the atoll are more than forty dive sites: giris, farus, thilas, kandu channels and the corners at channel entrances, where the current gathers grey and whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays and schools of snappers and trevallies. The best known are Light House Channel, Jumping Jacks, Wall Street, 7 Stingrays, Barracuda Kandu, The Cathedral, The Pillar and Cliffhanger. Mantas appear seasonally.

Dining is a buffet in the Main Restaurant, plus à la carte and a swim-up bar at Sunset Restaurant & Bar on the tip of the island. The Main Bar sits between the beach and a Japanese-style pond. Half board, full board and all-inclusive are available.

The spa is hidden in a tropical garden in the middle of the island: six treatment suites, Balinese and international therapies, open from 10:00 to 20:00. By the water there is a freeform infinity-edge pool with a bar inside it.

You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.

We run the deal

Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.

Card payment

We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.

All divers complete a medical questionnaire before diving; depending on the answers a doctor's certificate may be required. For divers aged 75 and above a certificate is mandatory — a requirement of the DAN insurance provider, with documents due at least seven days before arrival. The dive centre is open 08:30–12:30 and 14:00–18:00.

The largest category on the island at 112 square metres, on the beach. It sleeps up to six adults or four adults and two children. The resort lists it on the fact sheet but publishes no separate page with a description or photographs.

When to go

Getting there

The international airport is Malé (MLE). The island is 118 kilometres away: about 35 minutes by seaplane, followed by a ten-minute ride on a traditional dhoni — the only way for guests to reach the island.

Seaplanes operate in daylight hours only. The resort asks for international flight details in advance so the island transfer can be arranged around them.
