Sipadan and Mabul Resort 4★ — 7 nights on Mabul Island, roughly 25 minutes by speedboat from Sipadan. Standalone twin chalets, full board, a pool, a white beach and a house reef you can dive and snorkel for free at any time.
Recommended Flights
Departure from Moscow on 28 April with a connection in Abu Dhabi. Arrival in Kuala Lumpur on the morning of 29 April — a guide meets the group with a Tour Leader Club sign.
We will pick the exact flights together closer to the dates: 2027 schedules are not yet open for booking.
Return departure from Kuala Lumpur on the evening of 8 May, after the flight from Tawau.
The domestic Kuala Lumpur — Tawau — Kuala Lumpur flight is booked separately; we help with the selection.
To join the programme you need to be in Kuala Lumpur on the morning of 29 April. Plan your return flight no earlier than the evening of 8 May.

How much does the Sipadan trip cost in total and what is included?

$2,620 per person in twin accommodation: 7 nights at Sipadan and Mabul Resort 4★ with full board, 6 days of diving with 3–4 dives a day and a guide, tanks and weights, transfers, tour leader. Paid separately: flights Moscow — Kuala Lumpur and the domestic Kuala Lumpur — Tawau leg, the Kuala Lumpur land programme (price to be confirmed), the Sipadan marine park permit — $720 for 3 days, park fees and «Medical + Diving» insurance.
How do you get to Sipadan from Moscow?

Moscow — Kuala Lumpur with a connection, for example via Abu Dhabi: depart 28 April, arrive on the morning of 29 April, a guide meets you at the airport. We will pick the exact flights together once the 2027 schedule opens. From Kuala Lumpur a domestic flight to Tawau in Borneo (booked separately, we help choose), then bus and speedboat to Mabul Island, about 2 hours. The resort is roughly 25 minutes by boat from Sipadan.
Do I need a visa for Malaysia?

Russian citizens do not need a visa for Malaysia for stays of up to 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months on the date of entry.
When is the best time to go to Sipadan?

Late April — May: the gap between monsoons and one of the best periods for diving. Air 28–32 °C, water 29–30 °C, visibility 20–30 metres, short showers possible in the afternoon. Our departure is 29 April – 8 May 2027.
How many days do we dive at Sipadan itself?

Since 2008 visits to Sipadan have been capped: each resort receives a limited number of permits per day. A 3-day permit costs $720 and is paid separately; Sipadan days alternate with dives around Mabul, Kapalai, Si Amil and Mataking, and an extra day can be added on site if quota is available. The resort’s house reef is unlimited.
What level of diving experience is needed?

An Open Water Diver certificate or higher and confident buoyancy: Sipadan is a wall rising from 600 metres and currents wash the island from all sides. The Mabul and Kapalai sites are shallow and calm — fine for beginners. The group is 10 divers plus a Tour Leader Club tour leader; the programme is not recommended for children under 12.
What should I bring?

A 3 mm wetsuit (water 29–30 °C), boots and fins, regulator, dive computer, SMB with reel, torch, mask and snorkel, logbook and certifications. Plus a hat, sunglasses, SPF 50+ sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a first-aid kit, camera and batteries. Gear can be rented at the resort for an extra fee.

Useful Information
May in Borneo falls between the monsoons and is one of the best months for diving. Air temperature 28–32 °C, water 29–30 °C — a short 3 mm wetsuit is enough. Underwater visibility is usually 20–30 metres. Short tropical showers are possible, most often in the afternoon.
Sipadan Island
Malaysia's only oceanic island: the top of an extinct volcano rising from a depth of 600 metres. Since 2004 nobody may live or stay overnight on the island, so all resorts are based on neighbouring islands. Since 2008 visits have been capped — each resort receives a limited number of permits per day, so Sipadan days alternate with dives around the neighbouring islands.
Mabul and Kapalai
Mabul is the world capital of macro diving. Its sandy slopes and underwater stilt remains are home to cuttlefish, ribbon eels, nudibranchs, frogfish, crocodilefish and seahorses. Kapalai, a shallow sandbank nearby, is another classic spot for macro photography.
Permits and fees
The Sipadan marine park diving permit is paid separately — $720 for three days. An extra diving day at Sipadan can be added on site if quota is available.
Visa
Russian citizens do not need a visa for Malaysia for stays of up to 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months on the date of entry.
