Day-by-Day Programme

Arrival in Hurghada. Transfer to the port. Board M/Y My Red Sea Explorer, meet the crew, and attend the safety briefing.
The program includes 3–4 dives per day, including night dives. On the first and last days — 2–3 dives.

SS Thistlegorm — the most famous wreck in the Red Sea, discovered by Jacques-Yves Cousteau in 1956. Trucks, motorcycles, and other WWII artefacts are still preserved in the holds. Of particular interest are the stern with its machine guns and the locomotive lying on the seabed beside the ship.

Strait of Tiran — four renowned reefs with sheer walls, canyons, and vivid soft corals. Turtles are common here, along with large schools of fusiliers and anthias. Thomas Reef holds a well-known canyon, while Jackson and Gordon offer a chance of hammerhead sharks.

Abu Nuhas — the famous ship graveyard with four wrecks: Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon M. The sunken vessels have become artificial reefs populated by countless fish, morays, octopuses, and other marine life.

Ras Mohammed (Shark & Yolanda) — Shark Reef is renowned for its sheer wall clad in soft corals and vast schools of snappers, trevallies, and batfish. Grey reef sharks and barracuda appear from time to time. At Yolanda Reef you can see the famous cargo of the wrecked ship — bathroom fittings scattered among the corals.
Transfer from the port to Hurghada airport for the return flight home.

Useful Information

Climate in July
July in the northern Red Sea brings hot, dry weather. Air temperature 35–40°C, water temperature 26–28°C. Underwater visibility 20–30 metres. Summer winds on the northern reefs are calmer than in spring, so the crossings to Tiran and Ras Mohammed are comfortable.

SS Thistlegorm
A British cargo ship sunk in 1941 near the Strait of Gubal and discovered by Jacques-Yves Cousteau in 1956. Its holds still contain the wartime cargo — trucks, motorcycles, rifles, and aircraft parts. A locomotive lies on the seabed beside the hull. It is considered one of the finest wreck dives in the world.

Abu Nuhas
A reef in the northern Red Sea at the entrance to the Strait of Gubal, known as the ship graveyard: four vessels rest on its northern slope — Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon M. All lie within recreational depths and have long since become artificial reefs.

Ras Mohammed
A national park at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef are the signature dive sites of Egypt: a sheer wall clad in soft corals, schools of pelagic fish, and the cargo of the Yolanda scattered across the bottom.

Two Weeks Back to Back
The southern route ends on July 1, the day this week begins. Both weeks can be combined into a single trip without flying home in between.
