Day-by-Day Programme

Arrival in Bogotá. We meet the local operator, transfer to the hotel, check in, and rest.

Sightseeing tour of Bogotá — a unique city founded by conquistadors in 1538 at the heart of the Chibcha civilization. Monserrate, the historic center, Bolívar Square with the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Palace of Justice. The Gold Museum — artifacts of ancient civilizations. In the afternoon — the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, whose walls are made of pure salt! The old mines were worked by indigenous people long before the arrival of Europeans. Souvenir shops with genuine Colombian emeralds.

Flight to Leticia. Sightseeing tour of Leticia and the Brazilian town of Tabatinga. The tour ends at the main square, where thousands of small parrots gather to roost safely for the night, returning to the jungle at dawn.

The town of Puerto Nariño, an island with wild monkeys, an indigenous family, a meeting with a shaman. Pink dolphins may be spotted. In the evening — across the Amazon to the other side (technically Peru). By canoe into the wild: sloths, monkeys, Amazonian birds. Accommodation in jungle cabins. After dark — caiman hunting: tracking, quietly approaching, catching, examining, and petting them. Night walk through the jungle: tarantulas, snakes, giant frogs, maybe an anaconda.

Useful Information

Climate
Most of the country has equatorial and subequatorial climate. Average monthly temperature in lowland areas and on the coast — around +29 °C year-round. In mountain areas (2,000–3,000 m) — from +13 to +16 °C. Water temperature on the Caribbean coast — from +20 to +26 °C year-round.

Visa
Colombian visa is not required for Russian citizens visiting for tourist purposes. Maximum stay — no more than 90 days per 180-day period. If a single visit exceeds 60 days, a $17 fee is required.

Time
8 hours behind Moscow in winter (GMT-5) and 9 hours in summer.

Safety
Keep large sums and valuables in the hotel safe. Set a daily ATM withdrawal limit on your card. Keep documents and cash separate. Avoid deserted areas and high-crime neighborhoods. Do not travel around the country after dark. Do not accept gifts from strangers (cigarettes, drinks). Swimming at unpatrolled beaches is not recommended.
