Thailand Aggressor is a 35-metre yacht of the Aggressor fleet that works the Andaman Sea all year round. Eight cabins take up to 16 guests, looked after by a crew of 12. The vessel is built to US Coast Guard and ABS standards and was converted specifically for diving.

Diving is done from skiffs carrying up to nine guests, so gear stays assembled and nobody has to elbow their way around the dive deck. Every guest gets their own gear station, with rinse tanks close by, a separate rinse for underwater cameras, a camera table with charging stations and a large shaded area for kitting up. A seven-night charter yields up to 24 dives, night dives included, plus one island visit.

The top deck is given over to relaxing: a large shaded sun deck with loungers, a hot tub, a bar and a grill. Inside there is an air-conditioned salon with a library, fish identification books and a media library, and a dining room with picture windows. The galley cooks Western and Thai food buffet style; soft drinks, tea, coffee, beer and wine with dinner are complimentary.

Every cabin has its own en-suite bathroom with shower, individual climate control, a mirrored cabinet, hair dryer, bathrobes and a TV with media player. Five main-deck cabins have two side-by-side beds; the three master staterooms — two on the main deck, one on the lower deck — have a queen bed.

From late October to April the yacht runs north out of Tap Lamu: the Similans, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. From May to October it runs south out of Panwa: Phi Phi, Koh Ha, Hin Daeng and Hin Muang.

Schedule & Pricing

North Andaman Sea: Similans and Richelieu Rock

The winter route, from late October to April. It starts and ends at the Andaman Sun Sea Travel Pier in Tap Lamu near Khao Lak, about an hour and a half from Phuket airport. Over the week the yacht works the Similan Islands with their granite boulders, arches and swim-throughs — Elephant Head Rock, Christmas Point, East of Eden, Breakfast Bend — then heads for Koh Bon and Koh Tachai, where mantas come in to be cleaned, and finishes at Richelieu Rock in the Surins: Thailand's best chance of a whale shark between February and April. Up to 24 dives per charter, night dives included, and one island visit. Suitable for divers of any level, though Koh Tachai and Richelieu can run strong current.

South Andaman Sea: Phi Phi, Hin Daeng and Hin Muang

The summer route, from May to October. It starts and ends at Panwa Pier on Phuket, about an hour from the airport. The programme takes in the King Cruiser wreck, Shark Point and Anemone Reef with their leopard sharks and sea fans, the walls of Koh Doc Mai, the limestone cliffs of Phi Phi with Bida Nok and Bida Nai, the caves and lagoon of Koh Ha, and the great southern pinnacles — Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, carpeted in soft coral and visited by mantas and whale sharks. Up to 24 dives per charter, night dives included. Hin Daeng and Hin Muang are deep and the current there is serious, so this route suits experienced divers best.
