Raga is a 37-metre steel vessel out of Phuket, the newest boat in the small fleet run by Smile Dolphin Diving. The hull was built in 2018 and completely rebuilt for dive cruising in 2024; she now takes 28 guests in 14 cabins across three decks, looked after by a permanent crew of nine.
Every single cabin has air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom, plus a wardrobe, hair dryer and safe. That is still unusual in Thailand, where shared showers turn up on local boats to this day. The range is wide — from a 20 m² master suite on the upper deck with a TV and mini fridge down to compact ten-metre cabins on the lower deck.
The shared spaces are generous: an air-conditioned saloon with a 65-inch screen and a large film library, a covered dining area aft, a dedicated station with water, tea, coffee and soft drinks, and a roomy sun deck with loungers. The galley cooks Thai and Western food buffet-style, with snacks between dives and vegetarian and vegan options on request. Wi-Fi on board is free and includes a 1 GB satellite channel, so the connection holds up well offshore.
Raga only sails in season — mid-October to mid-May, while the Similan and Surin marine national parks are open. The main route is the five-day one: the Similans, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock and the sunken Boonsoong, fourteen dives in all. In September and the second half of May, when the parks are closed, the boat works the southern Andaman Sea instead.
Diving runs from two motor tenders. The dive deck has rinse hoses, DIN adaptors and a separate rinse tank for underwater cameras, and there are three compressors on board. Nitrox is available, but it is paid for separately.
No mark-up
You pay the rate the operator publishes. The only thing added on top is the actual payment processing cost — no fee of ours.

Diving on board
The operator publishes no minimum certification level, but this is not a beginner's route: the Koh Tachai pinnacle and Richelieu Rock can carry noticeable current, and some dives go below 25 metres. Rental gear is charged separately — state your needs when booking. The crew speaks English, Thai and Chinese.
Food and drinks
Tell the boat about special dietary requirements when booking — they ask you to keep these to religious beliefs and food allergies. Beer and other alcohol are sold separately.

Two 10 m² cabins on the lower deck — the most affordable berths on board. The fit-out matches the main deck: en-suite bathroom, individually controlled air conditioning, wardrobe, safe and hair dryer. There are no windows, but this is where the motion is felt least.

Similans, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock
The classic Andaman route and the boat's main programme: five days, four nights, fourteen dives. Boarding in the evening at Thap Lamu pier near Khao Lak, then an overnight crossing to the Similans. From there it is the granite boulders and clear water of the Similan Islands, the manta cleaning station at Koh Bon, the Koh Tachai pinnacle and Richelieu Rock, where whale sharks show up in season. On the way back come the sunken Boonsoong and the Khao Lak underwater museum. Departures every five days from mid-October to mid-May, while the national parks are open.

The shoulder-season programme: it runs in September and the second half of May, when the Similan and Surin marine parks are shut for the monsoon. The boat leaves from Asia Marina on Phuket and works the southern Andaman sites. The September and October departures are shorter — four days, three nights and eleven dives; the May ones run five days, four nights and fifteen dives.
