Gangga Island Resort & Spa occupies the tip of tiny Gangga Island off the northern end of Sulawesi. It sits right on the white sand, backed by a tropical garden and a jungle-covered hill. Thirty wooden Minahasan bungalows are spread among the palms, each with a generous veranda facing the beach.
It belongs to Lotus Hotels & Resorts and feels closer to a quiet island holiday than to a dive camp: a saltwater infinity pool on the very edge of the ocean, the open-air Tuturuga restaurant under the coconut trees, the Coconut bar, the Pasung Spa, a boutique of Indonesian jewellery and textiles, and complimentary babysitting. Once a week there is a fish barbecue on the beach with musicians from the island.
Diving is run in-house by Gangga Divers, a PADI 5-Star centre with international instructors. There are more than thirty sites around Gangga and the Bangka archipelago — soft corals, walls and pelagics. Bunaken National Marine Park is 75 minutes from the jetty, and Lembeh Strait, with its black volcanic sand and famous critters, is the same distance the other way, so all three of North Sulawesi’s very different dive worlds are reachable from one base.
The centre is properly equipped: an automatic Coltri blender with free 32 % nitrox, three compressors, 12 and 15 litre tanks with INT and DIN valves, Aqualung rental, a regulator service room, a camera room with work tables, lockers and 220⁄110 V outlets, and a dedicated equipment rack for every room. Three boats carry 4, 6 and 14 divers; the two larger ones have sundecks and toilets, and every boat carries DAN oxygen, towels, fruit and fresh water for cameras.
The resort is a member of the North Sulawesi Watersports Association and takes part in reef protection and village development projects.
No markup
You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.
We run the deal
Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.
Card payment
We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.
Support all the way
We help you choose the room and dates, work out the dive package, answer questions about flights and gear, and stay in touch until you are home.
The exact amount is confirmed when we hold your booking: it includes the resort's rate at the day's exchange rate plus the actual transfer costs. No hidden fees.

Trips to Bunaken and Lembeh carry a long-crossing surcharge, and the Bunaken marine park entry fee is separate too. Snorkelling runs on the boat "Aliza" around Gangga, Bangka and Lihaga, leaving at 8am and 3pm with a guide, snacks, tea and coffee on board.
Special diets are catered for with advance notice, from coeliac to vegan. Tap water is not for drinking, but the water and ice served in the restaurant and on the boats are safe, and every room has a 19 litre water cooler.

A fruit basket, sandwiches and a welcome drink await on arrival, and the bed is turned down in the evening.

North Sulawesi sits almost on the equator, so the water stays warm all year and the seasons differ mainly in rainfall — short tropical showers can fall in any month. There are mosquitoes; malaria and dengue are rare in the region, but repellent is worth packing. Rooms have mosquito nets and the resort fumigates the grounds regularly.
Fly into Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado (MDC). There are direct flights from Singapore, daily services from Jakarta and flights from Bali.
The resort arranges the transfer: a staff member meets you at the airport with a name board, then it is about 70 minutes by air-conditioned car through the villages of North Sulawesi to Serei pier and 20 minutes on the resort boat across the strait. From central Manado the drive is about 90 minutes plus the same 20 minutes on the water.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry, and you need an onward or return ticket and at least one blank page. Many nationalities get a free 30-day visa on arrival; for the rest a visa on arrival costs US$35 and can be extended to 60 days.
Extras are per person and paid on site.
