Princess Dhonkamana is a 31-metre Maldivian dive liveaboard built in 2008. Nine cabins across two decks take up to 20 guests. Every cabin has a canopy bed, individually controlled air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom with a box shower and hot and cold water.

The vessel was purpose-built for diving: a dedicated dive deck with a shaded kitting-up area, rinse hoses, DIN adaptors, a separate rinse tank for underwater cameras and charging stations. Dives run from a separate dhoni that travels alongside the yacht — gear stays there, so nobody has to fight for space on deck. Nitrox is available on board for a surcharge.

Inside there is an air-conditioned saloon with a bar and library, where snacks are served with the evening aperitif, plus a large covered al fresco dining area. The galley serves European cuisine with a set-menu dinner, vegetarian and vegan options, snacks throughout the day and a beach barbecue. Three sun decks with loungers and sofas, an observation deck and a jacuzzi up top round out the relaxing space.

Itineraries are flexible: the captain and dive guides build them day by day around the season, the currents and what the group wants to see — the Central, Southern and Northern Atolls. The crew is close to one-to-one with guests and speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian.

Schedule & Pricing

Classic Maldives (Male — Male)

The boat's core route, running year-round. From Male through North and South Male, Ari and Rasdhoo — manta cleaning stations, night dives with rays, whale sharks off South Ari and high-current channels where grey reef sharks gather. The programme is flexible: dive sites are picked to suit the season and the currents.

Northern Atolls — Baa and Lhaviyani

A run north into the Baa UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The main target is Hanifaru Bay, where dozens of mantas and whale sharks gather in plankton season. Along the way come the thilas and channels of Lhaviyani, including the famous Kuredu Express with its grey reef sharks.

Deep South — Male and Addu

A crossing of the whole country down to the equator: Laamu, Huvadhoo, Fuvahmulah and Addu. Fuvahmulah is one of the few places in the world where tiger sharks are seen year-round; Addu offers hammerheads, mantas and the wreck of the British tanker British Loyalty. Currents are strong and experience is required. The route runs one way, with a domestic flight back.
