Ocean Hunter III is a 29-metre vessel based in Koror, built in 1978 and completely refitted in 2008 specifically for diving. Eight cabins take no more than 16 guests — one of the most intimate liveaboards in Palau, where the dive programme is built around the group rather than the other way round.
The vessel sails under Fish ‘n Fins, the oldest dive centre in Palau. Trips run 7 and 10 nights and always start and finish in Koror. Up to five dives a day, night dives included: Blue Corner hooked into the current with a wall of grey reef sharks, German Channel with its manta cleaning stations, the drift through Ulong Channel, the caverns of Blue Holes, Siaes Tunnel, the Peleliu walls, and the Japanese ships sunk in the lagoon — the Iro and the Helmet Wreck. Some departures are timed to the new and full moon, when the reefs spawn en masse and the big predators follow.
Underwater photographers get a dedicated room with a large work bench, more than 60 power outlets, charging stations and a separate rinse tank for cameras; rebreathers are serviced in the same space. DIN adaptors, sidemount, technical diving support and nitrox for a surcharge are all available.
Up top there is a sun deck with two jacuzzis and loungers; below, an air-conditioned saloon with sofas, a television and a library, a dining room with banquettes and a bar. The kitchen is Western and local, buffet style, with snacks all day and vegetarian and vegan options. Every cabin has individually controlled air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and both 110 V and 220 V outlets.

Best of Palau (Koror - Koror)
The vessel's core programme and its most frequent departure: a loop around the best sites of southern Palau. Blue Corner with a reef hook in the current, a drift along Ulong Channel, the caverns of Blue Holes, Siaes Tunnel and Siaes Corner, German Channel with its manta cleaning stations, the Big Drop Off and New Drop Off walls, and the Japanese vessels Iro and the Helmet Wreck resting in the lagoon. Up to five dives a day, night dives included. Drift experience is needed - the currents in the channels run strong.

The same loop around Palau's best sites, with dates timed to the new moon, when reef fish spawn en masse. Groupers and snappers gather in the channels on those days, and grey reef sharks and other predators follow them in. Spawning dives are early and in strong current - a programme for confident divers.

The classic Palau route with departures timed to the full moon. Full moon in Palau means spawning aggregations along the outer reefs and sharks hunting actively at dawn. Everything else stays the same: Blue Corner, German Channel, Ulong Channel, Blue Holes, the Peleliu walls and the lagoon wrecks.

An extended 10-night programme: the vessel ranges beyond the usual loop - south to the high-current reefs of Peleliu (Peleliu Express, Peleliu Cut, Yellow Wall), out to Ngesbus and Ngerchong, and to the far points of the outer reef. More time at each site and a chance to repeat the best dives. A shorter 7-night version of this programme also runs.
