Golden Dolphin IV is the flagship of the Hurghada-based Golden Dolphin Safari World fleet: 46 metres, first sailing in September 2021, the newest and largest vessel the company runs. Twenty-eight guests are accommodated in fourteen cabins across three decks, and the boat works the Red Sea out of Hurghada and Port Ghalib all year round.
The cabins are laid out exactly as the deck plan shows: four on the lower deck (two doubles and two twins), six on the main deck (four twins and two doubles), four twins on the upper deck. Every cabin has individually controlled air conditioning, a minibar, an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower cubicle, a porthole or window, life jackets, bathrobes and towels.
There is a lot of public space even for a 46-metre boat. The buffet restaurant and a bar are on the lower deck, two air-conditioned saloons on the main and upper decks, another bar and a lounge on the sun deck, where the jacuzzi and the loungers are. Three bars in all, two sun decks and an open lounge with bean bags.
The dive deck is roomy, with individual stations and a platform at the stern; divers are ferried to the sites by two 6-metre zodiacs with 85 hp outboards. Nitrox to 32% is free, the compressors are Bauer K15.1 with a Mattai membrane unit, tanks are 12 l aluminium DIN/INT with 15 l on request. Oxygen, a defibrillator and ENOS on request are on board.
Money, plainly: the fare is not the final figure. A safari fee package is paid on board in cash — from €350 for a week to €600 on the longest ten-day southern runs. It covers the Egyptian visa (about €25), marine park fees, port fees and fuel. Cards are not accepted on board at all — cash only, in euros, dollars, Swiss francs or Egyptian pounds.
The standard trip is 7 nights. Beyond that the operator runs ten-day programmes (9–10 nights) and two-week ones. Weeks with no itinerary assigned yet are held open “on request” — the operator’s own schedule runs to the end of 2027.

You pay the rate the operator publishes. The only thing added on top is the actual payment processing cost — no fee of ours.

Diving on board
The operator's experience requirements are strict and worth checking before you book. Any safari needs a diving certification and at least 30 logged dives, the last of them no more than a year old. For itineraries entering the marine parks (Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone, Rocky Island, Zabargad, St John's) the Egyptian Water Sports and Diving Authority requires Advanced Open Water plus 50 logged dives — that is law, not a recommendation. Bring your logbook, certification card, a copy of your passport and a medical certificate (no older than two years under 40, no older than one year over 40). A CDWS health record form is completed before departure. Maximum depth under Egyptian law is 40 m. Night dives are banned in the marine parks, landing on Zabargad and Rocky Island is not permitted, and gloves are forbidden. The dive guide may keep an under-experienced diver off individual dives and adapt the programme to the group's level.
Food and drink
Full board covers the cruise itself — dinner on arrival day and breakfast on departure day are not included. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals, allergies and diabetes must be notified to the operator by email in advance, as provisions are bought ashore. No alcohol is served between dives.

North — Strait of Tiran
Hurghada to Hurghada, 7 nights. The classic northern week: Shaab el Erg, the Abu Nuhas wrecks — Carnatic, Chrisoula K, Ghiannis D — and of course the SS Thistlegorm, the British transport sunk in 1941 with tanks, trucks, motorcycles and a locomotive still in her holds. Then the reefs of the Strait of Tiran — Jackson, Thomas and Gordon, with sheer walls and the amphitheatre at 24 metres where sharks rest. On the way back, weather permitting, the Rosalie Moller. A variant continues north to Dahab — the Canyon, the Islands, the Bells and a night dive at Gabr el Bint.

Hurghada or Port Ghalib, 7 nights — the boat's most frequent programme. The three great offshore sites of the Egyptian Red Sea in one week: the Brothers with the wrecks of the Numidia and the Aida, Daedalus with its plateau at 28–40 metres and walls dropping half a kilometre, and Elphinstone, a camel-hump reef with plateaus at both ends. Hammerheads, thresher sharks, grey reef sharks, oceanic whitetips. Depending on the schedule, sites near Port Ghalib such as Shaab Abu Dabab are added. The itinerary enters the marine park — Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives are required.

Port Ghalib to Port Ghalib, 7 nights. A week for divers who like variety: coral gardens full of fish, sheer drop-offs, reefs with cave passages, a few wrecks and very good night dives. The St John's reefs lie far south beyond Port Berenice and belong to the largest reef plateau north of Port Sudan: walls covered in huge fan and soft corals, caves and overhangs, and humphead parrotfish approaching 1.8 metres. Up to eight shark species are met here regularly. Elphinstone, Abu Galawa Soraya with its yacht wreck at 17 metres, Shaab Maksur and Sataya are on the way.

Port Ghalib to Port Ghalib, 7 nights. The boat's furthest southern itinerary, right down to the Sudanese border. Rocky Island and Zabargad, the St John's reefs, and then the Elba region: three reefs at the border where the northern plateau of the main reef starts at 20 metres and runs to 45, and where the large early-twentieth-century wreck of the SS Isola di Levanzo sits on the southern plateau. Grey reef sharks and hammerheads. The safari fee on this itinerary is higher than usual — €550 instead of €350.

Port Ghalib, 7 nights. Daedalus with its plateau and walls, then Fury Shoals — the area south of Marsa Alam known for dolphins and an extraordinary range of hard and soft corals. Shaab Maksur with drop-offs and drift dives, Shaab Claude with its cave passages and resident Napoleon wrasse, Shaab Sharm as a vantage point for passing sharks, the photogenic wrecks at Abu Galawa and, of course, Sataya, the dolphin reef, easy enough for both diving and snorkelling. The itinerary enters the marine park — Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives are required.

Hurghada to Hurghada, 9–10 nights. The safari fee on this itinerary is the highest — €600.

Hurghada to Hurghada, 14 nights, over New Year. The whole Egyptian Red Sea in one trip: the Brothers, Daedalus, Rocky Island, Zabargad, the St John's reefs and the six-kilometre Abu Fendera chain almost on the Sudanese border — remote enough that you may not see another boat for days. Between the Abu Fendera reefs run passages studded with coral blocks, Napoleon wrasse of every size and shoals of bumphead parrotfish. Elphinstone and Safaga on the way back.
