M/Y Ghazala Explorer is a 37-metre steel yacht run by the Egyptian operator Ocean Tribe Fleet, purpose-built for diving and completed in 2021. Thirteen cabins across three decks take up to 25 guests — twelve twin or double cabins plus a single cabin in the bow of the lower deck. Thirteen crew look after them: ten crew members and three dive guides, with no more than eight divers per guide.
What sets her apart from most of the Egyptian fleet is a genuinely all-inclusive fare. Dive permits, marine park fees, harbour fees and taxes, the dive package, nitrox for certified divers, a 12-litre tank with weights, full board, Wi-Fi and return airport transfers are all in the price. The operator charges no compulsory on-board supplements at all — you only pay for your visa, rental gear, the bar and tips.
The dive deck takes up the whole stern: a personal tank slot and kitting-up station for every guest, shade, rinse hoses, a separate camera rinse tank and a charging station. On board are two Bauer 320 m³ compressors, twenty-four 12-litre aluminium tanks with DIN valves and two tenders — a 100 hp and a 40 hp Yamaha. PADI and SSI courses run during the trip and sidemount is supported; rebreathers are not serviced.
Inside there is an air-conditioned saloon with pale sofas and a television, a restaurant with an open galley and buffet service, a bar and a library with board games. Outside, three levels of relaxation: a covered deck with bean bags and a hammock, a sun deck with mattresses and an open lounge under the Your Home At Sea sign. Every cabin has individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom with hot water; upper and sun deck cabins have panoramic windows, lower deck cabins portholes.
The standard trip is seven nights, departing every Sunday from Hurghada or Port Ghalib depending on the route. Itineraries cover both the north (Thistlegorm, Abu Nuhas, Ras Mohammed, Tiran, Dahab) and the south (Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone, Rocky, Zabargad, St John’s).

You pay the rate the operator publishes. The only thing added on top is the actual payment processing cost — no fee of ours.

Diving on board
Experience requirements depend on the route. Northern itineraries call for 20+ dives; North & Brothers Wreck Special needs Advanced Open Water and 25 dives; Brothers–Daedalus–Elphinstone and the Deep South need Advanced Open Water or Deep Diver and 25+ dives (the course can be taken on board); Daedalus–Rocky–Zabargad asks for 50+ dives. For the southern routes the operator recommends at least 30 logged dives with the most recent one no more than six months before the trip. A medical statement is completed before the first dive; a doctor's certificate is required if any answer is yes. Rebreathers are not serviced on board. The last dive of the trip is around midday the day before departure, leaving 24 hours before flying.
Food and drinks
Food allergies and dietary restrictions are taken into account when the menu is planned — tell the operator when you book. Every guest is given a refillable water bottle to use on board and take home. Alcohol on board is paid for separately.

The yacht's most frequent route, year-round from Hurghada. The Thistlegorm, the legendary WWII transport with trucks and motorcycles still in her holds; Abu Nuhas reef with the Giannis D and Carnatic; the Straits of Tiran with Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon reefs; Little Gubal for macro and dolphins; and Ras Mohammed National Park with Shark Reef and Yolanda. A northern itinerary reaching out to the Brothers — two isolated islets in open sea where the currents bring oceanic whitetips, thresher and hammerhead sharks, and mantas in season. Walls draped in soft coral and the Numidia, wrecked in 1901 and lying upright on the reef. The rest of the week covers the Thistlegorm, Abu Nuhas, Little Gubal and Ras Mohammed. 20+ dives; the occasional Wreck Special departure needs Advanced Open Water and 25 dives.

A whole week on the wrecks of the northern Red Sea: the Thistlegorm, the Rosalie Moller at 35–55 metres, the Ulysses off Gubal, the four ships on Abu Nuhas reef, the Salem Express near Safaga and the remains of the Yolanda on her reef in Ras Mohammed. Some departures run with a hosted guide. 20+ dives, and a deep qualification for the Rosalie Moller.

Departures from Hurghada or Port Ghalib, sometimes one-way. Advanced Open Water or Deep Diver required — the course can be taken on board.
