Emperor Elite is a 38-metre yacht from the Egyptian fleet of Emperor Divers, custom-built for diving in 2006 and refitted in 2015. A wooden hull, four decks, thirteen cabins for twenty-six guests and a crew of ten. In 2020 she was voted Best Liveaboard by DIVE magazine.
Cabins are spread over three decks. Eight standard twins of about 10 m² with portholes sit on the lower deck, one 12 m² convertible cabin with a large window on the main deck and two more 9 m² cabins on the upper deck. The upper deck also holds the two suites: a 28 m² Executive Suite with a king-size bed, two sofas and a dressing table in the bathroom, and a 19 m² Junior Suite with panoramic windows onto the Red Sea. All thirteen cabins have their own bathroom with a shower, individually controlled air conditioning, two towels per guest and a hairdryer on request. The vessel has fourteen bathrooms in total.
The main deck carries an air-conditioned saloon with sofas and a 55″ Smart TV plus a buffet-style restaurant; behind the partition is a bar stocked with local beer and wine. The upper deck has an open lounge with sofas, a second bar and a premium coffee bar serving espresso, latte and cappuccino. Above that, the sun deck with loungers, sunbeds and bean bags.
The dive deck is spacious, the platform measures 6.5 × 8 m and three Bauer compressors sit below deck. Divers are dropped by two 40 HP zodiacs. There are two to three dive guides on board, free nitrox to 32% from a membrane system, 12-litre aluminium tanks as standard and 15-litre steel tanks on request. DIN tanks and INT adaptors are available, along with oxygen, a first-aid kit and an AED, charging stations, rinse tanks, an air gun and a camera table.
The important part about money: Emperor runs a no-hidden-extras policy. Marine park fees, port fees, environmental tax and the fuel surcharge are already in the price — nothing extra is charged on board for the itinerary. Red wine with dinner is included too. The yacht sails year-round from Hurghada and Marsa Ghalib on six programmes, from the northern reefs and wrecks to Daedalus, the Brothers and St John’s.

Diving on board
The minimum certification is Open Water. On itineraries that enter the marine parks — Daedalus, the Brothers, Rocky Island and Zabargad — the operator requires Advanced Open Water certified to 30 m plus 50 logged dives; this is mandatory, not a recommendation. Simply the Best, Southern Solitude, Daedalus, Fury & Elphinstone, Safaga, Brothers & Elphinstone and Famous Five all call for the same 50 logged dives. Reefs & Wrecks recommends 20 logged dives, and South & St Johns is open to any level, snorkellers included. The maximum recreational depth in the Red Sea is 40 m; decompression, solo and technical diving are strictly prohibited, and night dives are not allowed inside the marine parks. A dive computer and an SMB are compulsory on every dive, a torch on night dives. Anyone who has not dived in the past 12 months takes a Skills Review or a free check dive. Bring your logbook, certification card and proof of dive insurance in English — without that document you will have to buy insurance on board.
Food and drink
Tell the operator about allergies and special diets in advance — food is sourced locally and gluten-free or dairy-free products are not always available. Guests are asked to bring their own refillable water bottle. Alcohol is sold on board and a moderate amount of your own is allowed; no diving after drinking.

Schedule & Pricing
South & St Johns
Port Ghalib to Port Ghalib, all year. The southernmost route the yacht runs, and the most relaxed in pace: a 21+ programme, meaning twenty-one dives or more over the week. An overnight crossing to the St John's reef system and, weather and government approval permitting, a call at remote Rocky Island and Zabargad. Along the way Sha'ab Sharm with its walls and white tip reef sharks, Fury Shoals with the swim-throughs of Sha'ab Claude, huge porite corals and hard coral gardens, and Abu Dabab. Open to divers of any level, with snorkellers on the same departures.

Port Ghalib to Port Ghalib, April to November. The same southern sites, but against the flow: the yacht takes the landmark reefs in the reverse of the usual order and arrives when the fewest boats are there. Elphinstone right after departure, then Daedalus, then the rarely dived Rocky Island and Zabargad, St John's, Fury Shoals and Abu Dabab. A 21+ programme that spends the last night at sea rather than in port — the most dive-packed route in the fleet, with up to 22 dives. Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives required.

From Port Ghalib or Hurghada, March to November. The three headline offshore reefs of the southern Red Sea in one trip: Big and Little Brother, Daedalus and Elphinstone. Sheer walls draped in soft corals and gorgonians, the wrecks of the Aida II and the Numidia on the wall of Big Brother, strong currents and big pelagics — tuna, barracuda, jacks, Napoleon wrasse and grey reef sharks. Hammerheads, silky and oceanic white tip sharks show up regularly, mantas and thresher sharks occasionally. Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives required.

Port Ghalib to Port Ghalib, March to November. Shorter crossings than the other southern routes, so more time in the water and less chance of seasickness. Most of the week goes to the Fury Shoals reef system: the swim-throughs of Sha'ab Claude, the mazes of Malahi with their friendly turtles, the coral garden of Abu Galawa Soraya with a sunken sailing boat full of glassfish, and the resident spinner dolphins at Sataya. Then Daedalus with its sheer walls and schooling hammerheads from May to November, finishing at Elphinstone with its oceanic white tips. Night dives only outside the marine park. Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives required.

Marsa Ghalib to Hurghada, or the reverse, all year. This route links the offshore reefs of Safaga with the Brothers and Elphinstone. Around Safaga you get Panorama Reef with its huge coral formations, anemones and clouds of glassfish, Middle Reef and Abu Kafan, plus the Salem Express, one of the largest wrecks in the Egyptian Red Sea and now thick with hard and soft coral. Then the gorgonian-covered walls of the Brothers and a closing dive at Elphinstone. Tuna, barracuda, jacks, groupers and reef sharks; sometimes hammerheads, silky and oceanic white tips, dolphins and mantas. Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives required.

Hurghada to Hurghada, all year. The northern 21+ programme — reefs and legendary wrecks without long offshore crossings. The horseshoe reef of Shaab El Erg with its hard coral garden and dolphins, the ship graveyard of Abu Nuhas with four diveable wrecks — Carnatic, Giannis D, Chrisoula K and Kimon M — the Straits of Gubal, the famous SS Thistlegorm with Bedford trucks and BSA motorbikes still in her holds, Ras Mohamed with Shark and Yolanda reefs, the Straits of Tiran and the Ulysses. The most accessible route on the boat and the cheapest: the operator recommends 20 logged dives.
