Aqaba is Jordan’s only stretch of coast — twenty-seven kilometres of shore at the very northern tip of the Red Sea. The reefs start just past the waterline, and the seabed holds a whole collection of sunken hardware, from a Lebanese freighter to a transport aircraft and a tank.

Red Sea Dive Center opened in 1992 as a more personal alternative to the large dive centres of Aqaba. Its founder, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Mohammed Al-Momany, is a former officer of the Royal Jordanian Naval Force with forty years of diving behind him and international awards for underwater photography. His sons Abdullah and Omar run the centre today and guide the dives themselves. The business stays in the family.

The hotel stands on the south beach of Aqaba, on a hill seven hundred metres from the shore. Thirteen rooms, all en-suite, with air conditioning, satellite television, a minibar and high-speed internet. Most windows look out on the Red Sea or on the pools. On site there is a pool, a kids’ pool and a restaurant.

The diving is from shore. Every morning at 10 am a trip leaves the centre for two dives with an hour’s surface interval and a soft drink in between; it is back by two or three in the afternoon, and traditional Jordanian mint tea and water are waiting ashore. Boat trips are available on request and depend on the weather. Most Aqaba sites are a five-minute drive from the centre, and the trips rotate through the top ten.

Among them is the Cedar Pride, a Lebanese freighter scuttled in 1985 a hundred and fifty metres offshore at a maximum depth of twenty-six metres; the C-130 Hercules, set down on the sand in 2017, thirty metres long with a forty-metre wingspan; the Military Museum — twenty-one pieces of hardware laid out in tactical formation on the seabed in 2019, with tanks, an ambulance, a crane, a troop carrier and a combat helicopter; and the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, scuttled the same year.

PADI courses run from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water through to divemaster, plus eight specialties. Teaching is in Arabic and English.

No markup

You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.

We run the deal

Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.

Card payment

We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.

Support all the way

We help you choose the room and dates, work out the dive package, answer questions about flights and gear, and stay in touch until you are home.

The exact amount is confirmed when we hold your booking: it includes the resort's rate at the day's exchange rate plus the actual transfer costs. No hidden fees.
