Solitude One is the flagship of Solitude Liveaboards’ Philippine fleet: a 52-metre steel vessel built in 1979, completely rebuilt as a dive liveaboard in 2013 and refreshed inside in 2023. Eleven cabins take up to 24 guests, with a crew almost matching the group in size.
The ship’s main destination is Tubbataha, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Sulu Sea. The park is open only a few months a year, from mid-March to mid-June, and the only way in is by liveaboard: the nearest coast is about ten hours away. Sheer walls of the North and South Atolls, Jessie Beazley Reef, schools of jacks and barracuda, reef sharks, turtles and, in spring, whale sharks and mantas. Night diving inside the park is not permitted.
Outside the Tubbataha season the ship runs crossing expeditions through half the archipelago: the WWII wrecks of Coron, Apo Reef — the country’s largest reef system, the currents of Verde Island Passage, the black sand of Anilao and Dauin, the sardine run at Moalboal and early morning thresher shark encounters on Monad Shoal off Malapascua. These are long trips of 10 to 13 nights that disembark in a different port.
On board there is an air-conditioned saloon with a 55-inch screen and a library, a separate camera room with work benches, a jacuzzi on the bow deck, a wide sun deck with loungers and a hammock, and an open-air dining area. The stern deck is given over entirely to diving: individual stations with benches, camera rinse tanks, three Bauer compressors and a nitrox membrane system. Dives are run from two 11.5-metre skiffs, so gear stays on the boats and the deck never gets crowded.
After the 2023 refit the cabins are bright, finished in light oak veneer; each has climate control, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a safe, bathrobes, a hair dryer and universal power points. Mattresses are 190 cm long in every category. Meals are served five times a day: a light breakfast, a full breakfast, lunch, a hot afternoon snack and dinner, buffet style, with soft drinks included.

Diving on board
Twin sets are not available and rebreathers are supported only on full charters and by prior arrangement. Solo diving is not allowed even for certified divers. The first dive is no earlier than 6 hours after arrival, and a minimum 18-hour no-fly interval applies before departure. Every diver must carry a dive computer, an SMB and an audible signalling device, and hold valid dive insurance. Night diving is prohibited inside Tubbataha by park rules. The crew speaks English and Spanish.

Tubbataha (Puerto Princesa — Puerto Princesa)
The ship's classic route and the only way to see Tubbataha: the reefs lie about ten hours from Palawan with no coast nearby. Day 1 — boarding in Puerto Princesa and an overnight crossing. Days 2–5 — the North and South Atolls, 3 to 4 dives a day: sheer walls, schools of jacks and barracuda, grey reef and whitetip sharks, turtles and, in spring, whale sharks and mantas. Day 6 — two dives at Jessie Beazley Reef. Day 7 — disembarkation in Puerto Princesa. The park is open from mid-March to mid-June and night diving inside it is prohibited.
