Sea Star is a 40-metre three-masted motorised schooner with five Bermuda sails, custom built in 2002. Welded steel hull, 200 tonnes displacement, around 500 m² of sail. Nine cabins on the lower deck take up to 22 guests, looked after by a crew of nine — captain, engineer, chef, three stewardesses, a dive instructor and two deckhands.
Sea Star has a sister ship, the two-masted 42-metre Sea Bird. Both belong to the same operator and run the same weekly programmes out of Mahe, so the operator keeps one schedule and one price list for the two hulls: the actual vessel is confirmed at booking.
The interior is finished in natural wood throughout: an air-conditioned lounge bar with TV, DVD and stereo, a dining salon, a covered back deck with a table for open-air meals, and a two-tier sun deck. Cabins have central air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with a shower, storage, reading lights and 220 V sockets for charging. Housekeeping is daily.
The route covers the granite inner islands of the Seychelles: Praslin with the Vallee de Mai reserve, a day exploring La Digue by bicycle, the uninhabited Sisters and Coco Island, the Aride bird sanctuary, the tortoises and mangroves of Curieuse, the granite outcrop of St. Pierre, Baie Ternay Marine Park and an overnight anchorage in the Ste Anne Marine National Park. Dives take place among granite boulders that form passages and caverns: reef fish, rays, turtles, barracuda, jacks and tuna, and occasionally whale sharks. Depths around the inner islands are mostly 8–20 metres, so the programme suits beginners, certified divers and guests who come for the snorkelling and the islands.
Visibility is at its best in March–May and October to early December. The sea is calm almost all year; wind picks up from July to September.

Diving on board
Diving is paid separately: the first dive of the day is €40, each further dive €20, plus 15% government taxes. Full gear rental (BCD, regulator, wetsuit) is €30 a day, a single item €10 a day, also plus 15%. Mask, fins and snorkel are free. Wetsuits are 3 mm shorties. The theory part of any course must be completed online before the trip.
Food and drink
Table water, tea, coffee and breakfast juice are free. Mineral water and all other drinks go on your tab and are settled at the end of the trip. Tell the crew about special dietary needs in advance: the galley is small, and the operator advises against joining with a severe food allergy. You may bring your own drinks, but a corkage fee applies.
