Odyssey is a 40-metre yacht run by the French operator Seafari International, purpose-built for diving in 2012 and last dry-docked in 2025. That refit left her hull white and her interiors completely rebuilt: pale oak, beige fabrics, a new restaurant and a new saloon. Thirteen cabins across three decks take up to 26 guests.
Cabin numbering starts at three: seven Twin cabins on the lower deck, two Double and two Double/Triple on the main deck, one more Twin and one Double/Triple on the upper deck. All cabins are about 13 m², all have a private bathroom with shower, individually adjustable air conditioning, 220 V European sockets, bed linen, bath and beach towels and bathrobes. Main- and upper-deck cabins have large windows.
The dive deck is generous, with a personal station for every guest, rinse tanks and a separate rinse for underwater cameras. Every dive is made from one of two 6.5-metre tenders — a faster, calmer way to reach Daedalus, Elphinstone and the Brothers. The operator guarantees a minimum of 16 dives a week including a night dive, and extra dives are free of charge. Nitrox is free, 12-litre aluminium tanks with DIN/INT valves and weights are included. Maximum authorised depth is 40 metres.
Up top there is a jacuzzi and sun loungers; below it an open lounge deck with armchairs and tables, and on the main deck the restaurant and the air-conditioned saloon. Massage is available on board. Meals are buffet style, international and local cooking, with tea, coffee, water, juices and soft drinks available at any hour; beer and wine cost extra. Wi-Fi in the common areas is free but depends on how far offshore the boat is. Power comes from two 150 kW Perkins generators plus a 65 kW unit, and two watermakers producing 20 tonnes of fresh water a day between them.
The itineraries cover the whole Egyptian coast: the north with the Thistlegorm, Abu Nuhas and Ras Mohammed, the Straits of Tiran and Dahab, the Brothers — Daedalus — Elphinstone Golden Triangle, the deep south with Rocky Island, Zabargad and St John’s, Fury Shoal, plus a ten-night and a two-week expedition. Trips leave from Hurghada, Port Ghalib or Marsa Alam depending on route and season.
Discounts the operator gives before departure: −€50 per person for triple occupancy (child or adult) and −€50 for a non-diver.

You pay the rate the operator publishes. The only thing added on top is the actual payment processing cost — no fee of ours.

Diving on board
The operator's pre-departure guide sets the minimum level as Advanced Open Water (CMAS**, N2) plus at least 50 logged dives for Brothers — Daedalus — Elphinstone, Tiran, the Golden Loop, Rocky, Zabargad and St John's; Open Water (CMAS*, N1) is enough for the northern routes and Fury Shoal. The booking system itself lists Advanced Open Water on every route, with the logged-dive minimum set to 10 on Treasures of the North, 30 on most routes and 50 on Brothers — Daedalus — Elphinstone and the ten-night expedition. Maximum authorised depth is 40 metres. You must bring certification cards, a logbook, a medical certificate less than a year old plus a copy, a copy of your passport and an insurance policy covering diving and repatriation.
Food and drink
Meals start with dinner the evening before the boat sails and end with breakfast on disembarkation day. Tell the operator about allergies or religious restrictions when you book.

Brothers — Daedalus — Elphinstone, the Golden Triangle
The most famous route in the Red Sea. The Brothers islands are rooted more than 500 metres down and rise only a few metres above the surface: constant currents, sheer walls, grey reef, hammerhead and oceanic whitetip sharks, and the wrecks of the Numidia and the Aida on Big Brother. Daedalus reef, 80 km off Marsa Alam, brings schooling hammerheads on the northern point and fields of anemones with clownfish. Elphinstone is two plateaus at 25 and 45 metres joined by an arch, with schools of jacks and tuna. The operator asks for Advanced Open Water and at least 50 logged dives.

The classic northern Red Sea week out of Hurghada. The boat heads north between Gubal and Shadwan, on to the tip of Sinai and into Ras Mohammed, where the walls drop past 800 metres. On the way: Sha'ab El Erg with its resident bottlenose dolphins, the ship graveyard of Sha'ab Abu Nuhas with four wrecks — Carnatic, Ghiannis D, Chrisoula K and Kimon M — and the Rosalie Moller, sunk the same week as the Thistlegorm. The gentlest route on paper: the booking system asks for only ten logged dives.

A week between Dahab and the Straits of Tiran. Dahab's Blue Hole and Canyon with sheer walls and swim-throughs; Tiran's Jackson and Woodhouse reefs with schooling fish, reef sharks, drift dives, eagle rays and turtles. Two to three dives a day, night dives on some evenings. Round trip from Hurghada.

One of the best-known Egyptian routes: first the northern wrecks near the mouth of the Suez Canal between Gubal and Shadwan, then Ras Mohammed with the Shark and Yolanda drift, the Thistlegorm and her cargo of war material, then out to the Brothers islands and back via the reefs of Safaga. Wrecks, sheer walls and coral gardens in one week.

A run down to the 23rd parallel and the near-deserted islands of Rocky and Zabargad. The sunrise dive on the northern point of Daedalus sits in the strongest current and offers the best chance of a school of twenty-plus hammerheads. Zabargad has peaks, canyons and caves with tuna, leopard and nurse sharks, rays and morays; Rocky, five kilometres further south near the Sudanese border, is the wildest dive site in Egypt. The week finishes on Elphinstone.

A route for people who sleep badly on night crossings: the boat moors in sheltered spots every evening. Abu Galawa with the wreck of the Tienstin, which starts at the surface and drops to 17 metres at the stern, so overgrown with coral that you cannot tell where the hull ends and the reef begins — often dived at night. Sha'ab Claudio with its cathedral-like caverns and shafts of light, whitetip reef sharks around every corner of the galleries and a big Napoleon wrasse under the boat.
