Day-by-Day Programme

Direct overnight flight from Moscow. Morning sightseeing tour of the capital. The labyrinthine streets of the Casbah fortress, the Mustapha Pacha Palace, the Museum of Popular Arts, the Palace of the Raïs. Ketchaoua Mosque — a unique blend of Moorish and Byzantine architecture. The Monument of Independence (92 m) — 'Algeria's Eiffel Tower' with a panoramic city view. Notre-Dame d'Afrique cathedral perched on a cliff above the sea. Emir Abdelkader Square and the Grand Post Office building in neo-Moorish style.
The lost city of Tipaza — Phoenician, ancient Roman, early Christian, and Byzantine ruins, and monuments of the Berber kings of Numidia. A Phoenician outpost since the 6th century BC. The Royal Mausoleum, the archaeological museum. Evening domestic flight to Djanet.
Departure through the Tassili n'Ajjer National Park — a plateau in southeastern Algeria famous for its petroglyphs. Wadi In-Djaren: whimsical rocks resembling fantastical creatures. Dinner and overnight at the Adjalatin bivouac — tents, camp kitchen, bonfire.
Sunrise on the dune. Route through Agahar — Neolithic and Paleolithic rock engravings (elephants, giraffes). Arrival at Moul-Naga. The sands shift in color from grey to purplish-pink. Descent by jeep down a huge dune at 45° — a real adventure. The sand changes color at sunset from yellow to gold. Sunset on the dunes, dinner under the stars.
Sunrise on the dune. Fantastic landscapes among whimsical rocks and white plains. Picnic and free time — the magic and allure of the desert. The Tin Merzouga rock massif, surrounded by pinkish dunes. Over 100 m high — a natural boundary between Algeria and Libya. The "Singing Dune" — the wind compacts the sand and it hums. According to legend, anyone who reaches the crest can make a wish. Sunset from the summit. Overnight under the starry Saharan sky.
Last sunrise in the Sahara by the Tin Merzouga dune — the most beautiful surroundings are in the morning. Exploring another part of the plateau. Lunch. The site of Tisietka — a labyrinth of stone corridors. Overnight at the bivouac.
Return to Djanet. Along the way — Wadi Tarharghart with the unique "La Vache qui Pleure" (The Crying Cow) engraving. Check-in at the hotel-camp, shower and rest. Night domestic flight to Tamanrasset.
Tamanrasset — the Tuareg capital. Market stalls with silver: rings, pendants, blades, camel saddles. Drive to the Assekrem Plateau — remnants of a basalt volcanic vent millions of years old. Whimsical rock formations surrounded by Saharan sands. Sunset. Overnight in stone huts — spartan conditions, but incredible views.
Sunrise on the Assekrem Plateau — altitude 2,726 m. At the summit — the hermitage of Charles de Foucauld, where a few monks still live. The most scenic views of the Hoggar Mountains. Return to Tamanrasset, overnight at Hotel Tahat.
Excursion to Tanget. The Tuareg villages of Indalag and Tahifetgde. Less arid but captivating landscapes. Deep beneath the sand lies water: wells, more vegetation, roads along dried-up riverbeds. Return to Tamanrasset. Night flight to Constantine.
Constantine — the eastern jewel of Algeria near the coast, not far from Tunisia. A mountain plateau at 640 m, split by sheer cliffs and linked by bridges — the "City of Seven Bridges." Ahmed Bey Palace, suspension bridges, the Cirta National Museum with rare antiquities, the Emir Abdelkader Mosque.
Early departure to Djemila — one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Algeria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Roman forum, a vast temple, basilica, Triumphal Arch, colonnades along former streets. Mosaic museum. Transfer to Algiers, flight home.
