Southern Maldives

The “Southern Maldives” route covers the southern atolls of the central archipelago — Laamu, Thaa, Meemu, and Vaavu (Felidhu). This is the territory between classic central routes and the expedition deep south. Some trips also include stops in North and South Male, and extended versions reach Addu and Huvadhoo in the far south.

Diving in the southern atolls differs from the central ones with less crowded sites and wilder marine life. The channels of Vaavu and Meemu attract grey reef sharks and pelagics, Laamu offers virtually unexplored reef systems, and Thaa features channels with unpredictable currents and chances of encountering large marine inhabitants. The route suits divers experienced in channel diving.
