Socorro Island

The Revillagigedo Archipelago, located in the Pacific Ocean 400 km south of the Baja Peninsula, is considered one of the world’s best places for diving with large marine animals. Four volcanic islands are surrounded by deep water attracting giant Pacific mantas, seven shark species — hammerhead, tiger, whale, Galapagos — as well as humpback whales. Socorro is often called the Mexican Galapagos. Giant mantas here approach divers within arm’s reach, and in winter months, humpback whale songs can be heard underwater. The wealth of pelagic life, including dolphin pods and large tuna, makes every dive unforgettable.
