Diving in Egypt — Red Sea

The “Red Sea Variation” route from Hurghada heads north then south — a comprehensive route covering wrecks and reefs of the northern Red Sea and offshore southern reefs. Visit to Gubal Islands, Abu Nuhas, then Brothers and back.

Abu Nuhas — four wrecks (Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, Sea Star). Rosalie Moeller — wreck near the Gubal Strait. SS Thistlegorm — British transport vessel sunk in 1941. Ras Mohammed — national park (Shark, Yolanda, Dunraven).

Brothers Islands — peaks of underwater mountains with vertical walls covered in forests of gorgonians. On Big Brother — wrecks Aida II and Numidia. Hammerhead sharks, mantas, rare thresher sharks. On the return — Elphinstone and Salem Express or Panorama Reef near Safaga. Visibility not always good at northern wrecks. Minimum 50 dives required.
