A transit route between Flores and Ambon, crossing the central Indonesian archipelago. The safari starts from Maumere on Flores or from Ambon port in the Maluku Islands and passes through a chain of small islands with pristine reefs, volcanic slopes, and sheer walls. The route passes through waters rarely visited by other divers: coral gardens on underwater pinnacles, walls with fan corals and gorgonians, black volcanic sands with rich macro life. In the open water between islands, dolphins and whales are encountered. Ambon Bay is the recognized capital of underwater macro photography in Indonesia, where the silty bottom is home to psychedelic frogfish, mimic octopuses, and ghost pipefish. The route is available in both directions.
