5 room types
St. Eustatius, or Statia, is a small Dutch island between St. Barths, St. Maarten and St. Kitts. In the eighteenth century the Dutch dropped the trading tax here and the island became the busiest trading port in the Caribbean — in the peak years more than two hundred ships entered the bay every day. Hence the other name: the Golden Rock.
Some of those ships stayed on the bottom. The resort’s site counts over 300 known shipwrecks in the bay, and in 2022 National Geographic called the diving here the best in the Caribbean. In the Scuba Diving Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards, Statia took first place in three categories at once — Best Wreck Diving, Best Macro Life and Best Marine Environment.
Golden Rock opened in September 2021 and covers 40 acres on the slope at the foot of the dormant Quill volcano. Since it opened, over 140,000 plants have been put in; the gardens are a subject of their own here, hummingbirds and butterflies included. The resort is nearly off the grid: 2,240 solar panels produce 0.9 megawatts a day, with the surplus stored in batteries for the night. It holds Green Key and Green Globe certification.
Seventy-five rooms in five categories — from a 40 m² deluxe to the 80 m² Golden Rock Suite with a full kitchen, plus villa suites and one- and two-bedroom cottages with their own garden and porch.
The diving is in-house. Statia Divers by Golden Rock Resort works with PADI professionals, valet service (gear set up, rinsed and stored for you), rental that is entirely ScubaPro, Suunto Zoop computers, its own repair room and camera room. Nitrox is complimentary for certified EANx divers. Two boats are moored in the harbour, a fifteen-minute drive from the resort: Patricia for 16 divers and Sam for 25; the shuttle is free. The long-standing island operator Scubaqua has been brought into the resort — its base sits on the beach in a historic building once occupied by the Dutch West India Company.
The sites lie along the sheltered leeward side of the island, a 5 to 20 minute boat ride from the harbour, at depths from 11 to 31 metres: walls, wrecks, archaeological sites, volcanic lava flows, drift dives and night dives.
One more thing — the lagoon. The Caribbean’s largest man-made, cliff-edge, ocean-fed lagoon, the size of a football field, sits next to Bobbie’s Beach Club. There are hammocks and swings in the shallow end, and at 9 metres an American school bus has been sunk — that is where beginners learn to dive.

You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.

Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.

We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.

At the resort
Diving and snorkelling
Water is 26–29 °C and air 27–30 °C all year, with visibility of 20–30 metres. Diving is good year-round; whales are seen more often between January and March. The site quotes the marine park fee two ways — $30 per calendar year on the dive centre and gear pages, and $30 per diver per week on the dive package page. Every diver must wear a dive computer. Prices are quoted excluding taxes. The resort works with the St. Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA).
Food and drink
Bobbie's Beach Club is closed in low season; during that time its sushi menu moves to Breeze for dinner. Meals are not included in the room rate — they are added to the stay-and-dive package separately at $150 per person per day for the Silver plan (the full menus plus juices, soft drinks and water) or $210 for Gold, which adds house wines, beers and spirits.
Things to do
Excursions are paid separately. The Statia trails hike costs $50 per person, starts from 2.5 hours and is paid to the guide on the day; the STENAPA nature tag is included but transport to the trailhead is not. The historical walk is $35 and the island tour $45. The sunset cruise is priced on request and deep-sea fishing is listed as coming soon. The pools are open from sunrise to sunset and the lagoon from 10:00 to sunset; there are no lifeguards and swimming is at your own risk. A day pass for non-residents is $45 for an adult and $20 for a child aged 4–11, valid 10:00 to 18:00.

Prices for the whole stay. The package covers accommodation, breakfast, five days of two-tank morning dives, tanks and weights, nitrox for certified EANx divers, a mid-morning snack and drink on the surface interval, pick-up and drop-off on the island and the shuttle to the harbour, plus access to all the sports facilities and pools. When to go
Getting there
The island’s airport is F. D. Roosevelt (EUX). Nearly everyone comes via St. Maarten (SXM): it is an 18-minute flight from there with WINair. St. Maarten has direct flights from the United States, Canada and Europe. Charter flights and private jets are also possible.
By sea, the Makana ferry runs from St. Maarten and St. Kitts, and a speedboat from St. Kitts takes about an hour (Paradise Sun Charters). Schedules change, so plan ahead.
The resort provides free transfers from the airport and the ferry terminal — arrange the pickup in advance with reservations. Taxis and car hire are available.
A day trip from St. Maarten is possible too — WINair runs such flights, and the resort sells a day pass for its grounds.
