Fort Young stands on the waterfront of Roseau, the capital of Dominica, inside a fort laid down in the eighteenth century. Some of the stone is original: the Marquis bar still has its musket holes, and the Museum Café is built from stones recovered during restoration.
This is the only hotel on the island with a full-service dive centre. Three boats of its own — Formidable at 42 feet for 30 divers, Zélé and Glorieux at 36 feet for 18 each — leave straight from the hotel dock. Dominica’s best sites lie 10 to 20 minutes away. The base has rental and retail, a photo room, gear storage, nitrox and PADI instructors at every level.
One more rarity: Fort Young is the only operation on the island that offers shore diving. A nurtured coral reef with man-made installations sits right off the dock, and the resort runs its own rehabilitation project there. The entry suits divers of any level.
Dominica is called the Nature Island. Underwater it is volcanic: Champagne Reef bubbling with thermal vents, Scott’s Head Pinnacle through the wall of a crater, the bottomless wall of L’Abym. Seahorses, frogfish and rare critters turn up on every other dive.
Above water there are sperm whales. Around 250 resident females and juveniles live off Dominica, and in 2023 the world’s first marine reserve for sperm whales was created around the island, covering 800 square kilometres. The hotel runs whale-watching twice a week from its own dock and, under a special government permit, in-water encounters.
The hotel itself has one hundred rooms and suites in Creole fabrics and local wood, an infinity pool above the sea, a jacuzzi, a 24⁄7 gym, the Zemi spa on the waterfront, an art gallery and five places to eat and drink. Central Roseau is a five-minute walk away.

You pay exactly the rate the resort publishes. On top of that, only the actual bank costs of currency conversion and the international transfer — no commission of ours.
We run the deal
Correspondence with the resort, holding the room, the contract, booking confirmation and all paperwork are on our side. There is nothing for you to arrange yourself.
Card payment
We accept payment by card through Stripe and issue an invoice. The transfer to the resort is our job — you do not have to find a way to pay abroad.

The exact amount is confirmed when we hold your booking: it includes the resort's rate at the day's exchange rate plus the actual transfer costs. No hidden fees.

At the resort
Diving and snorkelling
Visibility 18 to 30 metres; water around 27 °C in summer and around 24 °C in winter — a 3 mm to 5 mm wetsuit is recommended. There is virtually no current and the sites suit all levels, beginners included. The Soufriere Scott's Head Marine Reserve fee is $2 per person per tank and $2 per snorkel trip. All prices include 15 % tax. Shore diving is not possible while a cruise ship is in port.
Food and drink
Breakfast 07:00 to 10:00 (to 11:00 on Saturday), lunch 12:00 to 14:30 except Saturday, dinner 18:30 to 21:30 (from 19:00 on Monday and Saturday). Bars open 10:00 to 22:00, the café 07:00 to 18:00, the pool bar 10:00 to 20:00 and room service 07:00 to 21:30. The Fort All-Inclusive package covers breakfast, lunch and dinner including Sunday brunch, soft drinks and a selection of alcoholic ones — beers, house wines by the glass, piña colada and house spirits. Special-event dinners cost extra.
Things to do
Every day of the week has its own excursion, from two hours to a full day. They are included in the Island-Included package and sold separately from $33 per person with shared transport, a certified guide and national park fees. A Tourism Pass is required for natural sites — $8 per site, $20 per day, $50 per week. Trafalgar, Titou Gorge, Freshwater Lake and the Boiling Lake trailhead are all within a 15-minute drive.

When to go
Getting there
The airport is Douglas-Charles (DOM) on the north-east coast. Non-stop flights: American Airlines from Miami daily, United from Newark twice weekly and Contour Airlines from San Juan four times a week on 30-seat Embraer jets.
With a connection — through Antigua (ANU), Barbados (BGI), San Juan (SJU) and St. Maarten (SXM), then a short regional flight on interCaribbean, WinAir, LIAT, Contour or Caribbean Airlines.
By sea, the L’Express des Îles ferry runs from Guadeloupe, Martinique and Saint Lucia straight into Roseau. The crossing takes two to four hours and normally runs daily.
From the airport the hotel arranges private transfers on request — SUV, seven-seater van, 15- or 25-seater coach. Transfers are included in every package. A taxi costs $80 per person one way. Car hire is available; driving is on the left.
The hotel is on the Roseau waterfront, a five-minute walk from the centre of town. The nearest sandy beach is 20 minutes away.
