Diving

Every certified guest's first dive is a shore dive on the house reef, where gear, buoyancy, mask removal and regulator recovery are checked. The reef plateau sits between five and twenty-five feet and drops past 140. The fleet is Miss Ina, Miss Bertha, Miss Ta Ta and the catamaran Miss Babsie, built in the Dominican Republic: two decks, three ladders, thirty divers and sixty tanks. On board: drinking water, first aid, radio, extinguishers and a DAN oxygen unit. There are over three hundred tanks from 40 to 100 cubic feet with DIN/Yoke valves. The fill station runs two Bauer K14 and one K15 compressor plus a Nuvair membrane system for nitrox. Diving is not part of the daily room rate — guests on a room rate pay for dives separately.

Food

The daily rate comes without meals. Plans can be added: breakfast and dinner (MAP) at $110 per person per day, all meals with afternoon tea (FAP) at $145, or all inclusive with drinks (AI) at $210. From 20 December to 2 January the breakfast-and-dinner plan is the minimum. Breakfast is served in the Treehouse 7:00–10:00, lunch on the beach or at the Jungle Grill from noon to 15:00, afternoon tea in the beach bar 15:30–17:30. Dinner runs 18:30–21:30 with a choice of four menus in two locations. On Tuesdays everyone dines on the beach — a Caribbean buffet with a steel pan band, and the Treehouse and Emerald's are closed. Lobster and premium cuts carry a surcharge even on a meal plan. Special dietary needs should be raised before arrival.

Things to do

Non-motorised watersports, tennis, yoga, beach chairs and towels on both beaches, the shuttle boat to Anse Mamin and the guided estate walks are all part of the daily rate. Kai Belté Spa sits at beach level between the restaurant and the dive centre: five air-conditioned treatment rooms, an open-air hair and nail salon, and the Kai Mer cabana on the hill above the reef. It is open 8:30–20:00; treatments in your room carry a $15 per person surcharge, and spa rates attract a 10 % service charge. About a hundred stairs lead from beach level to mid-hillside — the resort says plainly that this makes it unsuitable for guests with walking difficulties or cardiac problems; a shuttle runs on request. Children are welcomed from age eight. Drones are prohibited over the whole property. Pets, including service animals, are not accepted.

A house of its own on the north corner of Anse Chastanet beach. Hand-hewn stone steps lead up from the beach, across a stone-column gated bridge and along a brick path past a wind sculpture and an antique sundial. The 450 sq ft covered patio has a rose garden on one side and a herb garden with a water feature on the other. The bathroom has two rectangular porcelain pedestal sinks, a rose glass tile shower with two rain heads, and a cast-iron clawfoot tub at a window over the pond with water lilies and koi.

When to go

The resort is open year-round. St Lucia lies close enough to the equator that it has no well-defined seasons — it is warm all year. Afternoon rains are more common from June to November, but they rarely last a whole day. Prices split into five periods: the most expensive is 20 December to 2 January, the cheapest 1 June to 31 October. A daily-rate booking is secured by a three-night deposit with the balance at check-in; weekly packages take 50 % on confirmation and the balance four weeks out. Cancelling later than 21 days before arrival costs three nights, and festive-season terms are stricter. Check-in is 15:00, check-out 12:00.
