As summer arrives, we traditionally set out to explore Russia. In the summer of 2022 we visited Sakhalin, Kamchatka, the Kuril Islands, and Baikal. This is a short photo report from our Baikal journey. We set off on a cozy small catamaran designed specifically for expeditions like this one. Not long ago it featured in the TV show “Orel i Reshka” — the golden card holder embarked on a VIP trip across Baikal. We decided we deserved the same experience and set out to discover both the vessel and the route for ourselves. We made short hops from bay to bay, went fishing, swam, did light trekking, built campfires, and sweated in the on-board sauna (yes, really — the catamaran has its very own full-sized sauna!). We sampled the regional cuisine, ate well, and slept soundly. Thank you to everyone who supported our idea — we would love to see you on future journeys to Baikal and beyond.
