Pro Dive Cairns is not a single vessel but a set of three identical monohull dive boats — MV ScubaPro I, ScubaPro II and ScubaPro III. Built to the same design in 1998, 2002 and 2004, they share the same dimensions (23.95 × 7.35 m), the same layout and the same fare. Which of the three hulls you sail on is decided by the operator’s roster: what is sold is the trip, not a particular boat.
Three decks, a maximum of 32 guests and six crew — a ratio of one to five. There are sixteen cabins: fourteen twins with bunk beds and two with a double bed. None of them is en-suite; the vessel has eight shared toilet-and-shower units with hot fresh water. Every cabin has central air conditioning, a window or porthole and twin 240 V power outlets. Bedding is supplied, towels are not — bring two per person.
The itinerary is the same all year round: three days and two nights on the outer reef, leaving from and returning to Cairns with no boat-to-boat transfers. Up to 11 dives per trip, including two night dives, across 19 dive sites on four reefs — Flynn, Thetford, Milln and Pellowe. Depths are modest at 5–30 metres, visibility runs 15–20 metres and currents are mild to moderate, so the reefs suit beginners and experienced divers alike.
Diving here is unguided buddy diving: guided dives are not the regional norm, and instead a dive supervisor gives a detailed briefing with a site map before every entry. A guide is provided on the first dive of the trip for anyone who has not dived in a while, and on your first-ever night dive; a private instructor for the whole trip can be added for a fee. Solo travellers are paired up with a buddy by the crew.
The full dive kit is included — mask, fins, BCD, regulator with compass and a Suunto Zoop computer, a 5 mm wetsuit, a torch for night dives and, in season, a hood and a stinger lycra suit. Dive insurance is included too, as is a prescription-lens mask if you need one. Snorkellers are welcome on the same trip at their own fare, roughly a quarter cheaper.
The operator is Pro Dive Cairns, a PADI Five Star Career Development centre with Advanced Ecotourism certification. PADI Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air (nitrox) courses can be completed on board during the trip.

You pay the rate the operator publishes. The only thing added on top is the actual payment processing cost — no fee of ours.

Diving on board
A PADI Open Water certification or the equivalent from another agency is required. The full gear set, including a dive computer and a torch, is included in the fare. The crew speaks English. Individual dive guides are not the regional custom — the reefs are easy to navigate — but a private instructor can be added for a fee.
Food and drinks
No bottled water is kept on board — bring your own bottle for the filtered water. Tell the reservations team about dietary needs when booking: meals are prepared by ships' cooks rather than chefs, so vegan and gluten-free guests are advised to bring their own snacks. Alcohol is not sold on board but you may bring your own; once you have had a drink you will not be allowed back in the water that day.

Schedule & Pricing
3 days / 2 nights — Outer Great Barrier Reef
Departs Cairns at 07:00 and returns on the third day around 16:00. Four reefs — Flynn, Thetford, Milln and Pellowe — and up to 11 dives, two of them at night. Transfers from central Cairns accommodation are included; check-in is the evening before at the operator's shop on the corner of Grafton and Shields. Departures run daily all year round except Tuesday; the next three months are listed here and the pattern continues beyond them.
