Luxury Icebreaker

Le Commandant Charcot — the most luxurious icebreaker in the world

Day-by-Day Programme

Ushuaia — the "End of the World," gateway to the White Continent. The city is nestled in the mountains where the Andes plunge straight into the sea. In the afternoon — boarding the ship and setting sail.
The Drake Passage — a sea crossing you must endure to earn your encounter with the White Continent. Cold Southern Ocean currents meet warm equatorial waters — creating remarkably diverse marine life.
Into the land where the sun never sets. Minke whales, humpback whales, gentoo penguins. Crossing the Antarctic Circle — a glass of champagne! Landing on Detaille Island: a British research station from 1956, remnants of buildings and sled dog enclosures.
A narrow channel between Adelaide Island and Graham Land — an ice palace with flawless white walls reflected in the frozen mirror of the water. First explored by the Charcot expedition in 1909. Here Philippe Cousteau took the first underwater photographs of Antarctica (1972-73).
An island discovered by Charcot in 1910. Completely covered with ice and sheer cliffs. Very few people have ever set foot on this untouched island. Petrels, Antarctic terns, and skuas.
A sea named after the Russian admiral who discovered Antarctica in 1820. The two largest islands of Antarctica: Alexander and Thurston. Coastal areas are home to emperor penguin colonies.
One of the most beautiful bays in Antarctica. Icebergs in deep blue waters. Charcot named the bay after his wife. Numerous cetaceans, leopard seals, and Adélie penguins.
An island named after Charcot's ship "Le Pourquoi Pas." Length 28 km, width 14 km. Narrow fjords and snow-covered mountains. Zodiac landing — Adélie penguins on rocky shores.
Captivating glaciers, majestic icebergs, snow-covered islands. The photogenic Lemaire Channel. Landings on Petermann Island, in Paradise Bay, and at Port Lockroy.
Crossing the Drake Passage back. Presentations, slideshows of the trip's highlights. The silhouettes of Antarctica fade behind, leaving memories that last forever.
Breakfast, disembarkation. The journey is complete.
