Thailand and Burma: Mergui Archipelago

Thailand · 5–7 nights
Diving in the Mergui Archipelago, Burma

A cross-border route from Thailand to the Mergui Archipelago off the coast of Myanmar. The yacht starts and finishes at Badin Pier in Ranong (Thailand) and heads to the 800 uninhabited islands of the Burmese archipelago — one of the least explored dive regions of Southeast Asia.

The Mergui Archipelago opened for diving only in the late 1990s. Rocky islands covered in jungle are surrounded by pristine reefs. Key sites include Western Rocky Island with passages and canyons, Black Rock with grey reef sharks, Shark Cave, and North Twin Island. At High Rock and Seafan Forest — fields of gorgonians and soft corals. In open water, whale sharks, manta rays, and other pelagic fauna can be encountered. The route suits experienced divers ready for expedition-style diving.
