The Sea of Cortez, located between the Baja Peninsula and mainland Mexico, was called the aquarium of the world and the Galapagos of North America by Jacques Cousteau. It is home to over 850 reef fish species, and pristine underwater walls and reefs amaze with the diversity of life. Dive sites Los Islotes, El Bajo, La Reina, and Punta Lobos are among the best in the region. The route includes dives with playful sea lions, encounters with whale sharks and mantas, and in September–October — observation of schools of thousands of mobula rays. Shipwrecks, vertical walls, and diverse reef ecosystems make each day on the water unlike the last.
