North Sulawesi is a region with one of the highest concentrations of exotic marine life in Indonesia. The route combines three legendary dive zones: Bunaken Marine Park with its sheer coral walls, volcanic Bangka Island with fan corals and gorgonians, and Lembeh Strait — the world capital of macro diving. At Bangka Island, sites Sahaong and Batu Gosok are known for coral gardens with moderate currents, schools of fish, and eagle rays. On the walls live octopuses, scorpionfish, leaf fish, and frogfish. Lembeh Strait features black volcanic sand inhabited by mimic octopuses, hairy frogfish, ghost pipefish, and dozens of nudibranch species. Water temperature is 25–27°C, a 3–5 mm wetsuit is recommended.
