Morotai Island

Indonesia · 10–12 nights
Diving at Morotai Island

Morotai Island is part of the Moluccan Archipelago in eastern Indonesia, located north of Halmahera Island. One of the northernmost islands in the country, Morotai played an important role in World War II, and its waters hold numerous wrecks from that period. The safari departs from Sorong port (West Papua) to Bitung port (North Sulawesi) or follows a circular route through Ternate port on Halmahera. Underwater — sunken aircraft and ships from wartime that have become home to coral reefs and marine life. Currents around the island attract large pelagic fish. A route for wreck diving and military history enthusiasts.
