Malapascua is a small island off the northern tip of Cebu that has become the world capital for observing thresher sharks. Dawn dives at Monad Shoal at 20–28 meters depth offer encounters with these graceful predators and manta rays. The marine sanctuary on Gato Island is home to sharks and sea snakes. The route includes a dive on the sunken ferry Dona Marilyn, 98 meters long at 32 meters depth, the underwater mountain Kemod Shoal with hammerhead and grey sharks, and the reef walls of Calangaman Island with luxurious soft and hard corals. The diversity of dive sites makes Malapascua one of the best destinations in the Philippines.
