A route from Halmahera south to Gorontalo through the Togean Archipelago in Tomini Bay. Gorontalo is not the most popular diving destination in Indonesia, but it boasts excellent dive sites with steep walls and unique underwater life that is hard to find elsewhere. Una-Una Island is famous for extravagant reefs on the slopes of a former volcano. Kadidiri Island is home to Walea pygmy seahorses. A unique attraction of the route is a freshwater lake with non-venomous red jellyfish, located just two minutes’ walk from the shore. Notable fauna includes the sponge Petrosia lignosa, known as the “Salvador Dali sponge” for its bizarre shape.
