The route links two famous offshore reefs of the Red Sea — Daedalus and Elphinstone. Both sites are known for sheer walls dropping into the abyss and regular encounters with large pelagic species.
Daedalus Reef is a remote oval reef with a lighthouse, located in the open sea far from shore. Marine park status has preserved the reefs: monumental hard coral formations, steep walls with soft corals. On the northern plateau — hammerhead sharks, especially on morning dives. Oceanic whitetip sharks, grey reef sharks, barracuda schools, and mackerel are also encountered.
Elphinstone Reef features sheer walls covered in pink and red soft corals and gorgonians. The south and north plateaus are the points where oceanic whitetip sharks regularly appear. Turtles, grey reef sharks, and numerous tropical fish are also found here. A compact and action-packed route — ideal for those wanting maximum pelagics in a short time.
