Dolphin Dream

Dolphin Dream is a small family business. Captain Scott Smith owns the boat, operates it, repairs it, manages the boat’s website, and answers emails himself. In practice, this means that throughout the trip the captain will do everything possible to ensure all guests are happy and the voyage goes wonderfully. After more than 25 years in the Bahamas business, this is the third and best safari boat of the Dolphin Dream team. In terms of stability and comfort, the boat even exceeded the expectations of its owners! Dolphin Dream is the former shrimp trawler “God’s Will,” built to the highest standards for shrimp trawlers and operated by the same family (Patty Shipyard, Pensacola, Florida, USA). The trawler was later sold to a father-and-son team who worked it in the Gulf of Mexico and fitted it with new engines and electronics in 1998. But then shrimp prices fell and the bank repossessed the trawler from the family in 2003. The Dolphin Dream team purchased the boat from the bank in Pensacola at a fairly low price — by that point the team had been searching for a new vessel for ten years but could never find something they liked that they could also afford. Within just 10 minutes of meeting the trawler, however, they knew it was the one.
